Kanchenjunga Trek Nepal Base Camp Trek introduces Kanchenjunga Trek , an adventure which leads to both south and north base camps of Kanchenjunga massive mountain, perhaps this is the only trek in and around Himalaya and probably in the world, where you can enjoy being in two base camps of the same mountain in one single journey trekking in himalaya.

Mt. Kanchenjunga stands high as world 3rd highest and high mountains and second highest peak in Nepal with an altitude 8,586 m and 28,169 ft high, located Nepal’s North and Far East Himalayan belt straddling the border between Nepal and Sikkim (a small North East State of India).

Kanchenjunga Trek actual spelled as ‘Kanchendzonga’ means five jewels of snow peaks in Tibetan and local language, the mountains across the border in Sikkim worships as one of the holy mountains where mountaineers cannot climb right up to its main top summit as the top regarded as the abode of god and holy spirits.

The five jewels or treasures are Gold-Silver-Precious Stones, its Grain and a Holy Scriptures which refers to five adjoining peaks of Kanchenjunga.

Mt. Kanchenjunga of great beauty and grace the first successful climb in 1955 from Nepal South base camp by British Expedition led by late Sir George Band, where most of the climber at present climb the summit from North base camp around Pangpema.

Our Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek starts with a scenic flight to south east Nepal and then taking an exciting drive past Ilam town famous for its vast tea garden to reach our stating point of the trek.

As the walk progress leading first at Kanchenjunga South Base Camp at near Ramche to Yalung glacier after trekking through beautiful alpine forest and lovely farm villages and then our journey continues towards Pangpema at Kanchenjunga North Base Camp the highest point of the adventure at above 5,143 m with stunning panorama of massive Kanchenjunga and adjoining peaks.

After an overwhelming and exciting time around Kanchenjunga base camps, our adventure concludes heading back to Sukhetar for the drive towards Ilam town at low land of Jhapa district for sweeping panoramic flight back to Kathmandu.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,315m | 4,270ft and transfer o hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
Day 03: Fly to Bhadrapur 3,000 m and drive to Ilam town 1,460 m – 04 hrs.
Day 04: Drive to Sukhetar via Kabeli Khola trek to Lali Kharka 1,900m.
Day 05: Trek to Khesewa Bhanjyang 2,100m – 05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Mamangkhe 2,030 m – 06 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Yangphudin 2,150m – 06 hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Chitre 2,880 m – 06hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Simbua Khola 3,000 m – 07 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Tseram 3,770m – 05 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Ramche 4,360m via Lapsang – 06 hrs.
Day 12: Rest day at Ramche for acclimatization and hike to Kanchenjunga South BC.
Day 13: Trek back to Tseram – 05 hrs.
Day 14: Trek to near Tamo la 4,300 m – 05 hrs.
Day 15: Trek to Ghunsa, 3, 480 m – 06 hrs.
Day 16: Trek to Kangbachen 4,000 m – 05 hrs.
Day 17: Trek to Lhonak 4,780 m – 05 hrs.
Day 18: Trek to Pang Pema 5,065m -04 hrs.
Day 19: Rest day at Pang Pema for exploration.
Day 20: Trek to Kangbachen 3,900m – 06 hrs.
Day 21: Trek to Phole 3,100 m – 05 hrs.
Day 22: Trek to Amjilassa 2, 500 m – 07 hrs.
Day 23: Trek to Tapethok 1, 300 m – 06 hrs.
Day 24: Trek to Mitlung 1,550 m – 06 hrs.
Day 25: Trek to Suketar 2,440 m – 06 hrs.
Day 26: Drive to Biratamod or Bhadrapur via Ilam – 06 hrs.
Day 27: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 28: In Kathmandu free day for individual activities.
Day 29: International departure for home ward bound.

  • Best Time to Travel to Kanchanjunga Base Camp Trek
  • The best time to trek to the Kanchanjunga Base Camp is spring (March to May) and autumn (October to first week of December). The temperature is moderate in these seasons and guarantees amazing panorama views through the trip. Although this trek can be undertaken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.

MANUAL NOTE

Your safety during the journey is of paramount concern while traveling with Nepal Base Camp Treks and note that turbulent and cloudy weather is regular phenomenon along the Himalayas ranges and possibility of domestic flights from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur -Kathmandu may have to be delayed for few hours or even canceled for a day.

Any Weather conditions and health condition of a group member, or unexpected natural disasters, etc., can all contribute to changes in the tentative itinerary. NBCT leader will try to ensure your trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if any required.

As a safeguard we recommend you to add a couple of extra days after your trek before you fly from Kathmandu to your onward destination.
